Updates and Highlights from OIS@ASCRS

The Ophthalmology Innovation Summit (OIS) unites over 500 industry, entrepreneurial, and clinical leaders to collaborate on the development and commercialization of innovative drugs and devices to address unmet clinical needs. There are multiple OIS conferences that occur throughout the year; each of which are focused on different areas of ophthalmology. On May 2, 2019, Trial Runners sponsored and attended the OIS@ASCRS (American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery) conference in San Diego, CA. Attendance for TR was represented by Patrick Healy – Executive Chairman, and Brandon Beaudoin – Director of Clinical Development.

Trial Runners has multiple goals for attending the OIS conferences including:

  1. Education – Conferences like OIS keep us updated and educated on some of the newest and most innovative companies and products being researched in ophthalmology. OIS@ASCRS focuses primarily on research being done in the anterior segment (front of the eye). Several products are being developed to help patients with disease indications such as glaucoma, cataract, dry eye, presbyopia, and others.

  1. New opportunities – The ophthalmology clinical research industry recognizes Trial Runners as a top ophthalmology CRO, and one contributor to this is our sponsorship of several events throughout the year. This year, Patrick introduced each speaker in the Innovation Showcase, where biotech companies are given a few minutes to showcase their research progress and data to potential investors.

  1. Networking – Several of our current clients and potential clients attend OIS, so it’s a great opportunity for us to connect with them face-to-face to ask questions, obtain updates, and further the relationship between our companies.

The next OIS conference that TR will be attending is OIS@ASRS (American Society of Retina Specialists) on July 25, 2019 in Chicago, IL. Wish us luck and stay tuned for an update!
