A Note from Trial Runners CEO Jill Healy, Regarding COVID-19

Dear Sponsor, Private Investigators, Study Coordinators, Industry professionals and friends of Trial Runners,

At Trial Runners, we love our clinical research community — and the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted not only our own team and those we serve in clinical trials but also the global community at large. I want to thank our extraordinary Trial Runners family — across Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Business Development/Marketing and Business Operations, and more — who work tirelessly each day to uphold the GCP, ICH and FDA standards in clinical research. As we all continue to grapple with this escalating health crisis, I want to share an update on the steps we’re taking at Trial Runners to protect the clinical trial outcomes as we work through this unprecedented situation.

Clinical Operations: We will continue to rely as we always have on our remote safety management practices and medical monitors to maintain the safety standards of our clinical trial patients, no changes have been made in these operations.  We will also continue to rely on our remote data management practices, as well as our remote centralized monitoring practices as a foundation to ensuring data integrity. We have suspended all travel on behalf of Trial Runners including regional monitoring through April 3, 2020. Regional monitoring plans will be revised to 1 of 3 customized solutions for each study which we expect to finalize by 3.17.20 and be fully executing by 3.22.20.

Our entire Trial Runners clinical operations team is working together to regulate communication between clients, vendors and sites every 24 hours to ensure proper documentation is maintained regarding both patient safety issues and data integrity.  You can count us to give you daily feedback on any possible unplanned protocol deviations as they occur.

Business and Clinical Operation Development: Out of an abundance of caution and based on local government recommendations, we are not participating in any conferences or large gatherings with > 100 people through May 12, 2020.  Our customer service teams like our regional monitoring teams are also banned from travel through April 3, 2020. As we are committed to providing exceptional service to both our client and prospective clients, our company is open and can continue to provide services during a time when you may need it most.

Business Operations: In our offices, we are allowing team members to work remotely. On site, we have instituted policies and practices following guidance from the CDC and local public health authorities.  As needed with unprecedented school and day care closings, we will adjust work schedules so that care can be provided for loved ones undisrupted.  Our hard copy file maintenance and IT back up services continue to function as expected and during this time we are applying extra vigilance with increased daily monitoring from our dedicated staff.

Since the outset of the COVID-19 outbreak disaster plan, we have implemented a number of safety measures to keep our team and community safe, which include:

  • Restricting all non-essential global business travel.
  • Providing extended paid time off for all our employees in the event that they need it to ensure they don’t have to choose between their job and taking care of their families.
  • Ensuring the necessary technology and systems access for employees to work remotely and continue to do their jobs.
  • Instituting deep cleaning practices in our office.

At Trial Runners, our mission is to help others see the world. Now, more than ever, we all need to focus on taking care of our own health — physical, mental and emotional — as well as that of our loved ones and our research community.
