Patrick Healy, MPH
Since co-founding the company in 2006, Patrick has led the steady growth of the company toward becoming a leading choice for ophthalmology pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Prior to launching Trial Runners, Patrick was with Eyetech Pharmaceuticals as Associate Director of Medical Affairs, providing strategic and management oversight to the post-marketing clinical research program for Macugen®, the first anti-VEGF treatment for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (wet-AMD). Patrick initially joined Eyetech in 2001 to co-manage the Macugen® pivotal phase III clinical trial. Patrick has over 18 years of experience in the industry, including clinical management roles at Pfizer, Roche and Schering-Plough. Patrick received his Bachelors degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his Master of Public Health degree from the University of South Carolina, School of Public Health.
President & CEO
As a co-founder of the company, Jill provides leadership over business and clinical operations for the company. Jill has provided direction to the clinical teams on over 50 clinical trials since the launch of the company in 2006. Prior to Trial Runners, Jill was with Eyetech Pharmaceuticals since 2001 most recently as Associate Director in the Clinical Department where she hired, trained, and mentored CRA staff members working on Macugen® clinical trials. Prior to that role at Eyetech, she was a project manager for the Macugen Phase III pivotal trial and played a key role in the FDA approval of the drug. Jill has over 18 years experience in the industry including clinical management roles with Roche and Schering-Plough. Jill received her Bachelors degree from North Dakota State University.
Darin Curtiss, PharmD
Vice President of Clinical Development
Darin joined Trial Runners in 2016. Prior to joining Trial Runners, he was with Alcon Pharmaceuticals as a Sr. Global Brand Medical Affairs Lead providing strategic and management oversight to the post-marketing clinical research program for the Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Infectives portfolio. Darin initially joined Alcon in 2011 as a Project Head for the Glaucoma development. In this role, he successfully lead multiple cross functional teams in the development of early phase programs and for late stage programs, including DuoTrav, Azarga and SIMBRINZA leading to successful registration and approvals in multiple regions. Darin has over 15 years of experience in the industry, including clinical management roles at Novartis, Lux Biosciences and Daiichi-Sankyo. Darin received his Bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University, and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University. He also completed a post-doctoral residency in pharmacy practice at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, WA and a fellowship in Pharmaceutical Industry at Rutgers University.

Director of Clinical Operations
Starting his Trial Runners career in 2009, Brandon has contributed to the management of over 15 clinical trials, the majority of which have been researching the treatment of retinal diseases. He provides strategic input to the clinical department with timeline management, enrollment, risk mitigation, resourcing and contingency planning. Brandon serves as a mentor for project managers, in addition to serving on the company’s SOP committee. He has over 8 years of experience in the industry and received his Bachelor’s degree in microbiology from North Dakota State University.
Clinical Project Manager
Courtney received her bachelors of science degree in microbiology from North Dakota State University. She joined Trial Runners in January 2012 as a clinicial research associate. Her primary clinical focus has been both anterior and posterior ophthalmic disease indications, and spans across phase I – IV clinical drug trials as well as pivotal device trials. She has also focused her time mentoring and training newly hired Clinical Research Associates for the company.
Clinical Project Manager
Born and raised in southwest ND, Tanya joined Trial Runners in 2011 with over 11 years of clinical research experience. Prior to joining Trial Runners, Tanya was a Sr. Clinical Research Coordinator for Cetero Research, previously PRACS Institute, where she led a team conducting various Phase I clinical trials in healthy volunteers. She was involved in the complete conduct of the trial from the screening and enrollment of the subject through the study completion while also ensuring that her team met the timelines of the study and adhered to the protocol, FDA and GCP guidelines and regulations. Tanya has worked on a wide variety of indications including hypertension, depression, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, asthma, and attention deficit disorder.
Tanya Steffan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and is a current member of DIA.
Senior Clinical Research Associate
Courtney joined Trial Runners in 2012 as a Clinical Research Associate. Courtney has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Since starting with Trial Runners, she has worked on 14 clinical trials with ophthalmic experience in Glaucoma, DME, AMD, and Uveitis. Of those ophthalmology trials, she has also worked in rare disease including Friedreich’s Ataxia, Mitochondrial Myopathy and Alport Syndrome. Within the company, Courtney is an active participant in Trial Runners’ SOP meeting.
Senior Clinical Data Manager
Brady started his career at Trial Runners in 2008 right after graduating from Dickinson State University with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. Brady started as a clinical data coordinator and has worked his way up to Sr. Data Manager and Director of Data Management. Brady has contributed to the data management of over 25 studies, in phases I-IV. He has performed most tasks involved in data management including: CRF design, database programming/build, edit check programming/testing, data review and query management, coding, reconciliations, and QC. He is home-based in Minneapolis, MN.
Director of Marketing and Business Development
Born and raised in Puebla, Mexico, Melissa joined Trial Runners in 2015 as Marketing Manager with over 8 years of experience in marketing and advertising, applying a strong expertise in data-driven, long-term strategic planning, inbound marketing and content marketing. Prior to joining Trial Runners, Melissa was Marketing Manager for Grupo Proyecta S.A., where she led corporate marketing and advertisement, creating a series of successful campaigns. She managed a diverse project portfolio, including market analysis studies, managed care systems, and customer satisfaction measurement. Previous to this, Melissa held various positions as Director Marketing, Manager of Mi Casa en Lomas Magazine, and Sales and Marketing Manager at Grupo Nantli de Mexico.
Melissa Pavlicek holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Design and a specialization in Marketing and communication. She is fluent in several languages such as Spanish, English and Italian.
Director of Business Operations
Rynae joined the Trial Runners family in February of 2016, bringing with her a passion for strategic HR planning, employee relations, and performance management. With a B.S. in Business Administration and Human Resources Management, experience as Director of Human Resources in a non-profit healthcare setting, and co-owner of a small business, Rynae brings rich experience in all aspects of human resources including wage, salary, and benefits administration, risk management, recruitment, performance management, conflict resolution, training and development, safety, and more. Furthermore, Rynae’s interest and knowledge expand beyond human resources to include strategic planning and business strategy. Rynae obtained her Professional in Human Resources certification in May of 2016.
